Carol A. (Novak) Oehler, 86, passed away at the Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1:30 p.m. with Father Aaron Junge presiding. A private inurnment will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Serenity.
Carol was born on July 6, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Godfrey and Julia (Molumby) Novak. On June 30, 1980, Carol married Charles Oehler in Nashua, Iowa. She worked as an executive assistant at Rockwell Collins for many years before her retirement.
Those left to cherish Carol’s memory are her husband, Charles “Chuck” Oehler, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her children, Julia (Tim) Harrison of Long Lake, Minn., Betsy (Alan) Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Chuck’s children, Cheri Oehler-Terman, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Charles Oehler, VI (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Therese Thenhaus, of Oconomowoc, Wis.; and daughter-in-law, Minde Albaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jeffry Albaugh; her brothers, Paul and Gary Novak; her sisters-in-law, Jean, Mary, and Sharon Novak; and her brother-in-law, Duane Thenhaus.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Mercy Medical Center for all the love and support they showed Carol while she was in their care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mayo Clinic Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice.
