Death of woman found in Cedar River ruled accidental

Cedar Rapids police said the death of a woman whose body was found in the Cedar River has been ruled accidental.
Teresa L. Cooling, 50, of Cedar Rapids, was found dead near the Ellis Boat Harbor around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 18. Police launched an investigation and classified the case as an unattended death.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said an investigation was concluded within the last week and determined there was no foul play involved. According to Cooling's death certificate, she was the victim of an accidental drowning after having fallen into the river.
Cooling had a houseboat and enjoyed spending time with her harbor friends, according to her obituary.
