Connie J. Clark of Iowa City, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
Connie J. Clark was born in Frankfort, Indiana, on October 27, 1945, the second eldest of five children of Gerald and Algilee Myers. She graduated from Clinton Prairie High School and went on to receive a Nursing Diploma from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Lafayette, Indiana in 1966. She graduated from Carlson College of Massage Therapy in 1992. She married Kenneth E. Clark in 1966 and was divorced in 1974. She later married her long-time partner Kay Kendall in 2009.
Connie was an Operating Room Nurse for over 40 years at the VA Hospital and the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics. She loved her Nursing career and enjoyed teaching operating techniques at Kirkwood Community College. She chose to work part-time long after her retirement in 2006 in computer related positions.
She was a creative individual often making gifts for friends and fellow employees, making personalized greeting cards, or organizing potlucks. She loved her rock and flower gardens, movies, long walks, organizing and chocolate.
Connie was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her long-time partner and spouse, Kay Kendall; her daughter, Heather M. DeBoard (husband-Brent); her brother, Gary Myers (Jerry Holt); sisters Vickie Myers (wife-Karen Sabel) and Katina Hodson (husband-Bruce) of Attica, Indiana and sister Penny Gauder of Franklin, TN.
Special thanks to Dr. Silverman and all the staff at the UI Health Care Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program.
A celebration of Connie’s life will be held from 1:00-3:30pm on Sunday, November 20th at the Kirkwood Room (515 Kirkwood Avenue, Iowa City). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Clark Family in care of Kay Kendall.
