As storms approach, the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities have issued a severe thunderstorm warning spanning Linn and Johnson counties.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM CDT FOR BUCHANAN...JOHNSON...EASTERN BENTON...NORTHERN WASHINGTON... WESTERN DELAWARE...LINN AND EASTERN IOWA COUNTIES... At 555 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Dysart to Newhall to Kinross, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
