Roger F. Tayek, 82, passed away at The Villages of Marion on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Monday, Nov. 7, from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m., with the Certified Celebrant, Dr. James Coyle officiating. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial website under Roger’s obituary under the video tab, starting on Monday, Nov. 7, at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Tranquility.
Roger was born on Feb. 26, 1940, in Clayton County, Iowa. He was the son of the late Donald and Marcella (Sabbann) Tayek. On Aug. 28, 1962, Roger married the love of his life, Beverly Burrack, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Farmersburg, Iowa. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, gardening, dancing and “puttering” around in his garage.
Those left to cherish Roger’s memory are his children, Robin (David) Shrope of Marion, Iowa, and Rodney (Arletta Henry) Tayek of Anamosa, Iowa; his grandchildren, Chad (Kati) Brown, of Marion, Iowa, Whitney Shrope, of Marion, Iowa, and Samantha Tayek, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his great-grandchildren, Grant Brown, Vincent Brown, Lucas Brown, Hayden Curtis and Izabella Curtis, all of Marion, Iowa; his siblings, Ron (Gloria) Tayek, of Farmersburg, Iowa, and Marlys (David) Kaiser, of Saskatchewan, Canada; as well as several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; his parents; a sister, Maxine Johnson; and two nephews, Jake Tayek and Mike Johnson.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Villages and Compassus Hospice for all the love and support they showed Roger while he was in their care.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lung Cancer Society and or the Alzheimer’s Association.
