Jerry Dean Shearer, 81, of Iowa City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022.
Services are Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Legacy Ridge II, 1095 Silvercrest Circle, Iowa City.
Jerry graduated from Solon High School in 1959, worked for Moore Business Forms in Iowa City for 36 years, until his retirement in 1996. While at Moore, he met the love of his life, Beverly. They were married on Aug. 27, 1988, and spent 34 wonderful years together. He bowled on a league for many years and wintered in Gulf Shores, Ala., for 20 years.
He is survived by wife, Beverly Shearer; children, James Shearer (Lori), Lisa Goodwin (David) and Chad Bugg (Erica); grandchildren, Jennifer Juarez (Rudy), Mary Beth Shearer, Christian Phipps and Graycen Bugg; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Jade Haberman, Ariana, Ezekiel, Sebastian, and Viviana Juarez and Caleb Phipps.
He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Mary Shearer; twin brother, Larry Dale Shearer; brother, Donal Shearer; daughter, Sue Peeler; grandson, Adam Tudor; and great-grandson, Vincente Juarez.
The family would like to thank the caring and wonderful staff in Mercy Emergency and ICU. The care he received was exceptional.
