Brenton Neville Platner, 37, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, with his beloved family by his side. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Friday, Oct. 28. Memorial service will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.
Brent was born on Oct. 30, 1984, the son of Robert and Margaret Platner. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and attended Washington High School and Kirkwood Community College.
Brent’s charm, intellect and quick-witted humor embraced and entertained his family and friends from an early age. His ‘megawatt’ smile would light up any room. Brent loved his doodles, Bailey and Mollie, the Iowa Hawkeyes, New England Patriots, Tom Brady, cooking and writing. Brent will be remembered and missed by all who knew him for his beautiful heart and gracious spirit. “And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hands” – Irish Prayer.
Brent is survived by his parents, Robert and Margaret Platner of Marion, Iowa; fiancee, Heather Novinskie of Dickeyville, Wis.; aunts and uncles, Bonnie (Kuwal) Singh of Iowa City, Iowa; Mike (Michele) Neville of Anamosa, Iowa; Patricia Neville of Anamosa, Iowa; Marianne (Harley) Weston of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; and many fun-loving cousins.
Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Maurice and Mary Neville, Duane and Marion Platner; and aunt, Nancy Neville Yeakel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Brent’s honor may be directed to the Community Health Free Clinic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
