MidWestOne Bank has a new CEO come November.
Charles Reeves, 54, has been named the new CEO, beginning at the first of the month.
MidWestOne is headquartered in Iowa City and operates banking offices in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida and Colorado.
Reeves replaces Charlie Funk, who will retire after 22 years with the organization. Funk was injured in a biking accident in the Pender Island of British Columbia Aug. 8.
Funk will return to his home in Iowa City from the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago at the end of this month, for outpatient rehabilitation, according to a post on CaringBridge.
However, Funk will remain with MidWestOne through April 2023 as a special advisor to “ensure a seamless transition” and he will continue to serve on the company’s board of directors, according to a release.
“We have traveled many miles together these past 22 years. Our Board of Directors has made an excellent choice for the next CEO of MidWestOne,” Funk said in a release. “We have built a strong foundation and I am confident that Charlie will provide the leadership that will take MidWestOne to new heights.”
New CEO Reeves was the president, CEO and director of Beach Bancorp, Inc. in Florida. Before that, he was president and COO of Bank of the Cascades, located in Oregon, Idaho and Washington.
“I am excited to join MidWestOne and for the opportunities we have ahead of us – and I’m humbled by the legacy that Charlie Funk leaves,” Reeves said in a release. “He prioritized integrity and community banking and led the organization from less than $500 million in assets and approximately 200 employees in 2000, to nearly $6.5 billion in assets and more than 800 employees today. I look forward to working with Charlie during the transition period and building on MidWestOne’s important legacy with our employees and the communities we serve.”
