Oct. 17, 2022 11:44 am
TIFFIN — Iowa FFA state and district officers visited Clear Creek Amana Middle School earlier this month to talk about opportunities are offered through the program including building communication and leadership skills.
Visiting officers included Prairie High School senior Will Vlasek, Iowa State University freshman Annie Bower, who graduated from West Branch High School, and Mount Pleasant student Kamyrn Hart. They also spoke with the agricultural education instructors, Alyssa Amelon and Bridget Buol about the future of the Clear Creek Amana FFA Chapter.
During a year of service to the organization, Iowa FFA officers serve as ambassadors for agriculture. They travel to FFA chapters throughout the state to connect with members and talk about the many opportunities available to students enrolled in agricultural education.
Agricultural education incorporates three aspects of learning: basic agriculture knowledge, leadership and personal skills. A Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) provides hands-on learning while students work in an agricultural business.
The Iowa FFA Association comprises 252 local chapters preparing over 18,000 students for future career opportunities. FFA activities and award programs complement instruction in agricultural education by giving students practical experience in applying agricultural skills and knowledge gained in classes. Through agricultural education, FFA makes a positive difference in students' lives by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success.
