Darlene “Polly” (Cornthwaite) Parrott, 94, passed into Heaven on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at her home. Per Darlene’s wishes, there will be no services. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Polly was born April 5, 1928, in Waubeek, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Grace (Miller) Cornthwaite. She was united in marriage to Joseph Parrott on Feb. 16, 1953, in Peoria, Ill.; they were married for 58 years before Joseph’s death in 2011. Polly worked at Rockwell Collins for 30 years. She enjoyed crafts, stained glass, jigsaw puzzles and reading. Polly also loved going out to eat, visiting casinos and traveling.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Bousquet of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Thomas (Josetta) Domino and Brett (Denise) Jungbluth; great-grandchildren, Griffin Domino, Hailey Domino, Liam Jungbluth and Emma Jungbluth; sister, Patricia Hughes; brother, Frank Daily; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Grace Cornthwaite; stepmother, Mae Cornthwaite; husband, Joseph Parrott; daughter, Sharon L. Domino; sisters, Maxine and Jean; and brother, Wilbur.
Memorials may be directed to the Indian Creek Nature Center, 6665 Otis Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
