CEDAR RAPIDS — Summit Schools fourth-graders raised $550 earlier this month for Cedar Valley Humane Society, an animal shelter in Cedar Rapids.
The students at the private school in Cedar Rapids hosted a lemonade stand Oct. 7, during their lunch times and outside after school. Lemonade was $1 a cup.
“We had lots of fun making lemonade. It felt good to raise money” for the animal shelter, fourth-grader Lailuma A. said.
The students chose for the fundraiser to benefit Cedar Valley Humane Society. They made the lemonade and handed out flyers to raise awareness for the fundraiser.
“It makes me feel sad that those animals don’t have a home,” fourth-grader Sentina M. said. “I am so happy we raised $550 to help them. It was a really fun experience.”
Students who purchased a cup of lemonade felt good that their money was going to benefit animals.
“It’s good that the lemonade stand raised money for a local charity,” sixth-grader Aidan T. said. “It’s cool that our school had a fun experience and also benefited the dogs and cats.”
Third-grader Emy H. thanked the fourth grade class for giving up their recess time to make lemonade.
“It was very good lemonade,” third-grader Chanaya T. said.
“Tasted delicious. Just how I like it,” third-grader Elliott T. said.
