LeRoy F. Dawson, 83, formerly of Solon, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at The Village in Indianola. Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral

LeRoy was born on April 8, 1939, in Earlville, Iowa, the son of Morris and Ella (Morris) Dawson. He served his country during the Bay of Pigs in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Jose King on March 26, 1962, their marriage dissolved in 1986. He was united in marriage to Karen Sue Fluegel on Nov. 9, 1996, in Iowa City, Iowa. LeRoy retired from Rockwell Collins as a program manager in 2001. LeRoy loved his family. LeRoy was an avid horseman and passed down his love of horses to his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include wife, Karen Dawson; brother, Glen (Doris) Dawson; sister, Buelah Lafferty; daughters, Mary (Timothy) Ehrhardt, Cindy Dawson and Chris (Josh) Dawson; stepchildren, Jill (Chad) Page, Page Rachowicz and David Brown; grandchildren, Sarah (Chad) Doherty, Charissa (Alex) Register, Mikaela (Mike) Taylor, Rachael and Isaac McIntosh, Calvin Freese, Brice and Brielle Page, Morgan and Mason Rachowicz, Jon and Ayla Brown; and four great-grandsons.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Mary Jo; brothers, Jimmie and Floyd; and son, Todd.
