Helen Thersa Possehl, 88, of Springville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at ProMedica Care Nursing Home (ManorCare) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial to follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Helen was born on June 15, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Jan and Mary Barton. She graduated from St. Wenceslaus High School with the Class of 1952 and began working in customer service. Helen was united in marriage to Francis Possehl on Aug. 18, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Springville, Iowa. Helen was involved with her husband at the Shriners Legion and worked the voting polls in Springville. She enjoyed visitors, and always kept a candy dish on hand. Helen’s greatest love was spending time with her family, especially holiday gatherings. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Possehl of Springville, Iowa; three sons, Randy (Cindy Spray), Rick and John; three granddaughters, Brittany, Kasi (Cameron Bading) and April; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John; and two sisters, Mary and Adeline.
The family would like to thank the staff at ProMedica Care Nursing Home (ManorCare) and Mercy Hospice for the great care given Helen.
