Marion Walmart liquor license suspended for one month after selling to minors

Oct. 10, 2022 4:19 pm
The Marion Walmart’s liquor license has been suspended for one month after an employee was caught selling alcohol to a minor.
The suspension, enacted by the Marion Police Department, went into effect on Oct. 7 and will last until Nov. 6. The store is located on Highway 151.
Tyler Ackerson, executive director of the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division, said it is the store’s second violation in two years. The penalty for selling alcohol to a minor once in Iowa is a $500 fine. If it happens twice in two years, the penalty is a $1,500 fine and a 30-day license suspension.
Three violations in three years will result in another $1,500 fine and a 60-day suspension. An establishment’s liquor license is revoked permanently after the fourth violation in three years.
