Russell Jarvis, 57, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Hillside Wesleyan Church, Cedar Rapids.
Russell was an avid country singer who in his youth adventured to Nashville to record demos pursuing a career in country music. He had a loyal following of fans in the local karaoke circuit and worked in various carnivals traveling the country. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1982 going overseas. Anyone who knew Russ could call on him for help fixing anything, he took great pride in his carpentry skills.
You could find Russell making plans for his next project or playing solitaire at his computer. He enjoyed competing and placing in his fantasy football league.
Anyone knew they could stop by and be welcomed at Russ and Coes.
He had a kind and beautiful soul and will be missed by many.
He is survived by wife, Colleen; children, Brandon, Austin, Amber and stepdaughter, Rachelle; brothers, Al (Kathy) Jarvis, Mike (Cheryl) Jarvis, Steve (Suzi) Jarvis and Dennis Pettit; sister, Vicki Klenk; dad, Otis Jarvis; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith Kincaid Jarvis; and biological father, Ed Pettit.
Memorials: Go Fund Me organized for expenses due to Russell's unexpected passing.
