Brook Dawn Wagner
Marion
Brook Dawn Wagner, of Marion, Iowa, passed away at her home.
“You Light up My Life” was her favorite song. Ironically, it was Brook who lit up the lives of everyone she met. She was full of love, laughter, hugs and conversations. Brook Dawn Wagner passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022. She recently turned 60 and enjoyed another one of her favorite birthday celebrations. She loved a party and meticulously recorded important family celebrations on her calendars over the decades. Brook enjoyed music, movies and watching TV. Her favorites were “The Wizard of Oz,” “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever” which included a long-term crush, John Travolta. Brook was as innocent as the day was long, but she wasn’t without a little mischief now and then. This included a one-day suspension in high school for hiding a beer in her locker!
Brook enjoyed stints of work including years at the Linn County sheltered workshop. She proudly retired from the mailing department at Aegon. Brook thoroughly enjoyed her staff and many friends at her work, and socializing over lunches really made her day. Brook loved her food, including cheeseburgers, pizza and French fries. Later in life she adopted the new wrap sandwiches offered by Granite City, which she ordered, along with waffle fries, for years each Sunday dining out with her mom.
Everyone loved Brook and she was a loving friend to all. A special thanks to old neighbors, staff, group home roommates, nurses, doctors and especially family members who made Brook feel so “special” and loved her entire life. Brook really had a good life and the Wagner family is so grateful to the hundreds of people who touched Brook from her childhood until her time with all the wonderful people with Discovery Living. Brook loved her staff, roommates and all those who supported her over the years.
Brook is survived by her “favorite” and only brother, Wade (Ni) Wagner; sister, Keely Wagner. A special thanks to Keely for her love and compassion and for all of the wonderful birthdays and parties she threw for Brook. Always a grand time for Brook and her friends and the highlight of the year for family and area group homes. Brook leaves behind numerous cousins, aunts, Maureen Kern, Beth Lamb; uncles, Don Suchy and Jim Linder; nephew, Wayko Wagner, who were all very generous with their love and support for Brook.
Brook lost her parents, Don (2006) and Janet (2022) Wagner, whose unwavering love and support gifted Brook with a promising and happy life.
Brook will be missed. Heaven is full of hugs. Angels are smiling.
A celebration of life will be held in Cedar Rapids next spring. Memorials for Brook can be made to Discovery Living in Cedar Rapids. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
