Frank G. Knapp, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. A private service will follow. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Frank was born March 21, 1936, in Eldorado, Iowa, the son of Donald and Gladys (Amundson) Knapp. He graduated from West Union High School. Frank was united in marriage to Kathleen L. Mosby, the couple later divorced. He worked for Collins Radio until his retirement in 1991, and worked part-time for Sears, Roebuck and Co. Frank was a member of the Parental Guardians of Iowa, P.G.I. Riders Group and the Eagles Club. He was a wonderful dancer, loved fishing and was an avid karaoke singer known as “Frank the Tank.”
Survivors include his children, Peggy (Brian) Blahnik of Walford, Iowa, Shari (Dan) Kendall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Crys (Rick) James of Walker, Iowa, Karen Watson of Chariton, Iowa, and Don (Bobbi) Knapp of Hiawatha, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Donna Schular of Waucoma, Iowa, and Rodney Knapp of Pacific, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gladys Knapp; an infant brother, Dennis Knapp; and brother-in-law, Ronald Schular.
