Kevin Alex Hackert, 61, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Darla Stephen; father, Stanley Hackert; siblings, Terri Hackert, Kris (Mike) Liercke and Mark (Sela) Hackert; nieces and nephews, Tory, Quinn (Katie), Lincoln, Ryan (Jordan) and Rachel; and his loving cat, Sally.
Born on March 14, 1961, in Washington, Iowa, Kevin was welcomed into Stanley and Kathleen (Gevock) Hackert’s family where he flourished. He graduated from Center Point High School in 1979 before completing certifications at Kirkwood Community College. Kevin worked many years at Whirlpool as a member of the International Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 1526.
He was handy with all sorts of things, there was nothing he wouldn’t tackle especially for friends and family. Kevin volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and loved spending time at the cabin in Delhi and being out in nature. Favorite times were spent enjoying Packers, Iowa Hawkeyes and Cubs whenever possible.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen; and his grandparents.
