Roberta Ann Kleppe, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, in her home. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Roberta was born March 17, 1940, in rural Benton County, near Belle Plaine, the daughter of Lloyd Robert and Edith Myrtle (Hughes) Gorsch. She attended Victor Public Schools, graduating in May of 1958. She started her career at Rockwell Radio in 1960, until her retirement in May 1995. On Jan. 7, 1967, Roberta was united in marriage to James Kleppe at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. To this union they had one son, James Kleppe Jr. She was a 40-year member of Salem United Methodist Church and was involved in the Methodist Women’s Groups.
Roberta is survived by her devoted loving son, James (Shawn) Kleppe Jr. of Cedar Rapids; stepson, Robin (Jill) Kleppe Sr.; stepdaughter, Bernadette Luensman; 10 grandchildren, Jaycee, Tristan, Breonah, Keeli, Tierney (Corey), Candice, Nathan, Nicole, Kristen and Sydney; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Blomme, Nancy Martinson and Jan Gorsch; two brothers, Robert (Sharon) Gorsch and James (Lori Sykes) Gorsch; sisters-in-law, Marlene Steichen and Sharon Kleppe; as well as many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Josh Lawrence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; stepgrandson, Robin “Arjay” Kleppe Jr.; stepdaughter, Annette Kleppe; two great-nieces, Lisa and Michelle Kimm; and four brothers-in-law, Virgil Blomme, Milford Martinson, James Steichen and David Kleppe Sr.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
