David Alan Guenther, 68, of Swisher, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by the people that loved him the most, on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, from a courageous battle with cancer. Celebration of Life gathering will be Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at the Swisher American Legion, with family greeting guests from 2 to 5 p.m. Military rites at 5:30 p.m., conducted by the Swisher American Legion, with the celebration of his life continuing to...? Dave’s final resting places will be where he was the happiest, Lake Wenesaga, Canada, and below his deer stand. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is caring for David and his family.
David was born Nov. 29, 1953, in Davenport, the son of Roy and Betty Jean (Applegate) Guenther. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. Guenther was united in marriage to the love of his life, Tracy Jo Schulte, on April 8, 2017, after 13 years of enjoying life together. He was a truck driver for many years and most recently worked at Five Star Shop in Swisher. Guenther enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, having an occasional beer, and spending time with his many friends and family.
Guenther is survived by his wife, Tracy Jo; his children, Carrie Guenther (Kyle Marlin), Jordan (Mallory) Schulte, Cole Schulte and Samantha Schulte; three grandchildren, Monroe, Sullivyn and Callaway; his siblings, Terri Fiore, Mike (Colleen) Guenther and Dennis (Terri) Guenther; his beloved dogs, Otis and Ty; and Gracy Mae – the Cat.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
