Dixie Lee Gilson, 82, a resident of the Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa, and formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away at the care center Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2022. Her wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of Dixie’s life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept.17, at Thomas Park in Marion. Papich-Kuba Funeral Service, Cedar Rapids, is serving the family.
Dixie is survived by her three children, Doreen Anderson, Royce Carlson and Ron Gilson Jr.; her brother, Jerry Myers; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Gilson Sr., on Nov. 30, 2018; three children, Carl, Sue and Joe Carlson; her parents, Milford and Zola (Carney) Myers; and eight brothers and sisters.
Dixie was born Jan. 13, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, and lived here her entire life until moving to the Anamosa Care Center in May, 2019. She was employed for many years as a certified nursing assistant and loved being a caregiver and taking care of people.
