F. Gordon Lane, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022. Funeral Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette; sons, Donald (Jackie) Lane and Patrick Lane; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gordon was born on Oct. 3, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Clinton and Margaret (Benedict) Lane. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and the University of Iowa. Gordon served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of two Purple Heart medals. He later wrote a short story about his experience during his service.
On Feb. 17, 1968, he married Paulette Lavielle in Ottumwa, Iowa. Gordon worked in configuration management at Rockwell-Collins for 37 years. He enjoyed watching television, playing cards, and doing crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bruce.
