Randall Gene McSwain, 67, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Born in Marion, N.C., on Nov. 19, 1954, he was the son of the late George Thomas “G.T.” McSwain Jr. and Betty Hazel Porter McSwain. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Donald Ray McSwain; and nephew, Christopher Donald McSwain.
Randall volunteered time with the Boiling Springs and McGrady Fire Department, serving as Chief of McGrady Fire Departments for a number of years. He also volunteered as secretary and later president of Halls-Mills/McGrady Ruritan Club, however, most of Randall’s working career was with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he retired after more than 20 years of employment. Randall loved his time spent in Florida visiting friends and family and will be remembered for his love of NASCAR.
Randall is survived by two daughters, Brittany Cinquino and husband, Michael; and Karen McSwain. Also left to cherish his memory, his sister, Sandra Weaver; and his brother, Neal McSwain and wife, Sheila; as well as two nieces and two nephews, Charles McSwain, Larry McSwain, Tifani Dorsey and Brandi Davis.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the generosity of Mattie, Lardell, Resse and Shardae for their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Hospice Cleveland County: 951 Wendover Heights Drive Shelby, N.C.; or a charity of the donor's choice.
