Betty Jean Hobel, 74, formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away amongst family at her home in Hermiston, Oregon.
Betty was married to the love of her life, John Hobel Jr., on June 25th, 1971. Betty retired from Rockwell Collins after 37 years and became a licensed insurance agent where she had great success. She was a devout Christian, who loved spending time with her family, talking on the phone with her best friend Janet Evan’s, and caring for her dogs. She also loved gardening and was a master gardener. Betty was one of the most selfless people this world has ever known, she loved everyone she met and would do anything she could for the people she cared for.
She was preceded in death by father, Joe Pauley Sr. of California; mother, Jean Lovan of Missouri; husband, John Hobel Jr. of Marion; and sister, Lorraine Means of Missouri.
She is survived by sister, Margie Culp of Hermiston, Oregon; brother, Jack Lawrence of Hermiston, Oregon; brother, Joe Pauley Jr. of Missouri; sons, Ronnie Hobel, Marion, Ernie Hobel Marion, Anthony Hobel (Brittany Hobel) Marion; grandsons, Joey Hobel, Braxton Leach and Landon Lovell; granddaughters, Madalyn Hobel and Luna Hobel; and many extended family in Oregon and Missouri.
Special thanks to the family members who have stepped up this last 5 years and helped with Betty’s care. Nieces, Faedra and Denise; nephews, Joe, Donnie, Jamie and Bobby; her sister, Margie; daughter-in-law, Brittany; and Sons, Ronnie and Anthony; and the staff at Ashley Manor.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 13th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the American Skillet on Johnson Ave in Cedar Rapids. All are welcome to come celebrate our family member and friend Betty Jean Hobel.
