Dorothy E. (High) Lane, 94, of Marion, Iowa, departed to her eternal home while at the St. Luke’s Transitional Care Center on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. An additional visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Bible Church on Sept. 10 with Pastor Brian Hill officiating. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Memorial Lawn.
Dorothy was born on Jan. 26, 1928, in Covington, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Viola (Bottenfield) High. On March 13, 1948, Dorothy married the love of her life, William “Bill” E. Lane in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a longtime member of Faith Bible Church where she served in several ministries.
Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her husband, Bill of Marion, Iowa; her children, Patricia “Patty” (John) Justice and Karen Vancil; her grandchildren, Christopher (Holly), Jennifer, Rachelle, Matthew (Amy), Erica (Richard) and Luke; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Paul, Glen, Ruth, Ralph, Irene and Donald; and her son-in-law, Jesse Vancil.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Bridgehaven Pregnancy Support Center of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mercy Hospital and St. Luke’s Transitional Care Center for all the love and support they showed Dorothy while she was in their care.
