Elect Wiskus for Senate District 42

I am a retired high school administrator, teacher-trainer, and a former member of a county board of supervisors in northern Iowa. My wife and I moved to Mount Vernon within the last five years. I appreciate the opportunity to endorse Jessica Wiskus for Iowa Senate District 42 on November 8.

Jessica understands better than the other candidate the dangerous possibilities inherent in the CO2 pipeline. Jessica is most attuned to the threat posed by the pressurized and liquefied CO2 pipeline in our state. A pressurized and liquid CO2 pipeline leak would likely spread poisonous CO2 gas into the air. Because pressurized and liquefied C02 is heavier than air it stays at ground level longer where it is potentially deadly. The presence of this gas makes rescue challenging and life threatening.

Iowa is not especially well-prepared for the kind of CO2 threats our state may face especially regarding emergency management issues in rural areas. Jessica has the mature problem-solving abilities as well as the clear communications and leadership skills to address the political challenges. These skills are necessary in the potentially life and death CO2 pipeline matters as well as other Iowa legislative issues. These require strategic, thoughtful, and effective approaches as she would work with other legislators and participants in the political process.
