Marie K. Huff, 91, of rural Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2022.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at noon until service time. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life reception thereafter at the Cedar Memorial Family Center & Library. A livestream of the service will be available on the Cedar Memorial website, under, Marie’s obituary, under the video tab starting on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m.
Survivors include many special family members: nephew, Dan and Linda Mashek, their children, Liz Mashek and Tom Mashek and his children; cousins, Edmund Ewoldt and his children; Wayne (deceased); (Julie) Landa and their children, Keith (Laurie) Landa and their son, Dawn (Bill) Walters and their children, and Craig (Christine) Landa and their children; as well as dear friends, Ed and Marilyn Sebastian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Cliff; and her brother, Howard Ewoldt.
Marie was born Dec. 10, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, to Hans and Rosina Ewoldt. Marie was an executive assistant at KCRG and Allis Chalmers, the latter where she met her husband, Cliff.
Marie was an avid supporter of Iowa Hawkeye athletics, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, Theatre Cedar Rapids, and Brucemore. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and proudly visited each of the 50 US states. Marie excelled in quilting, sewing, needlepoint and cross-stitch. She was treasurer of the Golden Needle Chapter of the Smocking Arts Guild of America. She loved family gatherings, enjoyed gardening and was fond of her daylilies. Marie was also a cat lover and supporter of animal rescue organizations.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Memorials may be sent to a charity of the donor’s choice.
