Linn County to receive funds for derecho repairs
CEDAR RAPIDS — The city of Cedar Rapids has launched a survey to find homeowners still making derecho-related repairs two years after the destructive storm pummeled Iowa.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has made about $57 million available to the state for disaster recovery from the August 2020 derecho, with about $46 million being funneled to Linn County.
Of that sum, $2.5 million will be made available to homeowners in Linn County for derecho-related repairs that are not completed and were not covered by insurance or other funding sources.
This funding is not yet available, but the city is doing outreach to homeowners to identify needs. Information shared through an online survey will help officials connect homeowners to resources when funds are available.
