William E. “Bill” Lewis, 85, of Lone Tree, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at Aspire of Washington following a short illness.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Jones & Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth, Iowa. Memorials have been established for the Johnson County Humane Society or Salem Church. Online condolences may be sent for Bill’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.
Bill was born May 30, 1937, in Washington, Iowa, the son of William Elroy and Olive Marie (Coon) Lewis. He attended country school through eighth grade and graduated from Ainsworth High School. William was united in marriage to Theone Groff in 1964 in Wellman, Iowa. They later divorced. He later married Kathleen O’Haver.
He is survived by son, Tim Lewis and fiancee, Annie of Iowa City, Iowa; son, John (Carolyn) Lewis of Parnell, Iowa; stepson, Brian (Melissa) Walters of Fairfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren; former wife and caretaker, Kathleen Lewis of Lone Tree, Iowa; and brother-in-law, Robert Litton of Iowa City, Iowa.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Reta Kay Litton; sister, Lucille Frame; aunt, Eula Mae Coon; and uncle, Everette Coon.
