Leon F. “Fred” Lange, 84 of Onslow, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Athol, Idaho.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, where a Memorial Service will be commence at 11 a.m. Burial of Leon and his wife, Phylis will follow at Scotch Grove Cemetery, Scotch Grove, Iowa.
Fred was born on April 22, 1938, in Canton, Iowa, the son of Leo and Donna (Carpenter) Lange. He married Phyllis on Dec. 6, 1959, in Maquoketa, Iowa.
In May of 1962, Leon and Phylis moved to a farm in rural Onslow where they would call home for many years. When he wasn’t busy farming, he enjoyed being outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and picking berries. Leon loved a good game of cards with the family. Leon and Phylis will be remembered for the Golden American Saddlebred Horses. Most of all, he loved his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include children, Randy (Judy) Lange of Onslow, Deb (Tim) Zabawa of Athol, Idaho, and Scott (Julie) Lange of Maquoketa; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce (Steve) Suby, Bill (Bert) Lange, Andrea (Glen) Kimmerle, Diane Beers, Laura Cappers and Joe (Deb) Lange; and sisters-in-law, Karen (Verlon) Huston and Carol Jenkin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phylis; his parents and parents-in-law; a grandson, Tyler Zabawa; and a sister, Lois Lange.
