David Bryan Rutherford went to be with the Lord July 30, 2022, at his home in Tyler, Texas.
David was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sept. 19, 1963, to Kenneth Rutherford and Catherine Morris Rutherford. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School, received a degree in psychology from the University of Iowa. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacy technician. Later in life, David was a Smith County Deputy Constable and police officer for the city of Troup. He was very proud of the time he served in law enforcement.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Morris Rutherford; and aunt, Ann Morris.
He is survived by his father, Kenneth Rutherford; a sister, Katheryn Rutherford; a brother, Kenneth Rutherford Jr. (Robin); three nephews, Jon Sacora (Allie), Jeff Sacora (Ashley) and Tyler Rutherford; a niece, Brenna Rutherford; nine grandnieces and one grandnephew; and two great-grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the police department of your choice to honor David’s life.
