Republican gaslighting on Trump search
Aug. 14, 2022 6:45 am
While Reps. Ashley Hinson, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, Randy Feenstra, and Sens. Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley all vociferously demand transparency and accountability for the FBI's execution of a duly-authorized search warrant to obtain evidence of a possible crime committed by Donald Trump, they all conveniently ignore the facts that it is the FBI's policy to never comment on such matters, and that Trump himself holds a copy of the warrant and an inventory of items seized, which he is free to release whenever he chooses. Up to now, he has chosen not to.
If Iowa's Republican congresspersons want to shed light on this subject, they should direct their comments to Trump, not to the FBI, the DOJ, the Biden administration or Democrats. The suggestion that there is some sort of unusual or nefarious "deep-state" activity behind the FBI's actions are nothing more than unwarranted gaslighting by these public servants of the Iowans they are supposed to be representing.
