Mabel Ursella Rouse, 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. The family will host a Celebration of Life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Summit View Village Community Room at 100 Hames St. SW, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Mabel was born May 15, 1932, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Hulls) Nelson. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids. Mabel met Mike Rouse in 1950, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. They met at Danceland Ballroom and one year later, on Sept. 15, 1951, the couple was united in marriage in Marion, Iowa. She worked for the Cedar Rapids Police Department as a records technician until she retired in 1992. Mabel was a fan of watching westerns. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Brenda) Rouse of Hiawatha, Iowa, Marilyn (Gerald) Heaverlo of Cedar Rapids and Carolyn (Doug) Novak of Marion, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nephew, Greg (Karen) Redfern of Marion; brother-in-law, Pete (Nelda) Rouse; and special friend, Cindy Koppenhaver.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Michael Arthur; and 10 siblings.
