Page Ellen (Ringstrom) Appelbaum, 69, of Bloomington, Minn., formerly of Iowa City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022.
Honoring her final wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa City Zen Center or The Ryumonji Monastery in Decorah, Iowa.
Page was born on Feb. 11, 1953, in Tucson, Ariz., to Norman and Nancy (Brown) Ringstrom. She married Jeffrey Appelbaum on Aug. 10, 1984, in Eagan, Minn. In 2007, the couple moved to Iowa City, where he passed away in 2020.
Page attended Metro State University in St. Paul, Minn., where she received her bachelor's degree. She then earned her nursing degree from The Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria, Ill. Page spent her career as a registered nurse for many years before later working at Hy-Vee in Iowa City.
She was active at the Iowa City Zen Center, where she formerly served as the head priest and guiding teacher. Page was an avid camper, and enjoyed historical reenactments playing the role of Madame Tea Lady.
She recently moved to Bloomington, Minn., to be near her children in her final days.
She is survived by her two sons, David (Amy) Appelbaum of Bloomington, Minn., and Robert (Katie) Appelbaum of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and one granddaughter, Julia Appelbaum.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
