Phyllis Rose (Broendel) Ebert, 93, left this life into the loving arms of her Savior on July 22, 2022, at the Vinton Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, with the Rev. Jeff Schanbacher officiating. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery, Newhall. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, also at the church. Memorials may be directed to Central Lutheran School or Hospice of Mercy.
Phyllis was born April 26, 1929, in Eden Township, North of Newhall, to Elmer Henry and Rose Marie [Wiese] Broendel. She graduated from Newhall High School with the class of 1947. On Aug. 10, 1947, she married Donald H. Ebert at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Atkins. Don preceded Phyllis in death in 1995. Phyllis was an active servant of her church. She sang in the choir for 65 years; taught Sunday School for 38 years; and was a member of the Tabitha Society for 68 years. She also worked for several decades as the Central Lutheran School Librarian. Phyllis was an avid scrapbooker and dearly loved to shop.
In addition to her parents and husband Don, Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Mullen; and her sister, Lucille Good.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Kathy) Ebert of Cedar Rapids; two granddaughters, Melissa (Hartwell Dillard) Ansley Brooks of Richmond, Va., and Kellee (Shaun) Guthrie of Marion; and four great-grandchildren, Sawyer Brooks of Richmond, Kaytelynd Guthrie, Kameron Guthrie and Kenzlee Guthrie, all of Marion.
The family wishes to thank the Vinton Lutheran Home and Hospice of Mercy for the loving care they extended to Phyllis.
