David William Altdorfer Jr., 68, of Marion, unexpectedly went to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, July 10, 2022.
Son of the late David Sr. and Jean Altdorfer; husband of 49 years to the love of his life, Noreen (Scott) Altdorfer; dedicated father of Lisa, Isaac, Sarah (Shawn) Bell and Dana; Pap-pap\Bappy who sugared up Jordan, Jackson, Roselynn, Mary, Anna, Luke, Rebecca, Lucy, Megan and Janie; younger brother to Ellen Sadler; and uncle to Carlese, Courtney and Justine.
David served his country honorably for 22 years, U.S. Navy, retiring as Chief Petty Officer, was actively working as a Metrologist for Collins Aerospace, teaching Sunday School, Big Brother volunteer, power weight lifter, former Basketball Coach and referee\umpire. He often said he was sure of only two things, that he was a sinner and was saved by Grace through faith in Christ alone. He wore out his Bibles with deep study over the last decade and had a heart for sharing the Gospel.
A public memorial service and reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Calvary Community Church, 327 35th St. NE, Cedar Rapids.
