Wanda Louise Detert, 71, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital. Celebration of Life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. The family requests everyone to wear bright, festive clothing to celebrate Wanda. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Wanda was born Dec. 9, 1950, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Harold and Glenna (Simpson) McDaniel. She graduated Cedar Rapids Washington High School, Class of 1969, as well as earning a degree from Mt. Mercy. She worked at Souvenir-Norwood and at Sadler Machine. Wanda was united in marriage Richard Morgan on Sept. 9, 1969; to this union three children. They later divorced. Wanda was united in marriage to Ronnie Detert on June 20, 1992, in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed gardening, collecting lighthouses, raising her cats, going to classic car shows, garage sales, antiquing and, most of all, spending time with her family.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Ronnie; her children, Jim (Jamie) Morgan, Rachel (Chad) Ozburn and Heather (Justin) Morgan-Sowada; stepdaughter, Jennifer Wolfe (Robin); eight grandchildren, Koral, Lexi, Morgan, Seth, Kael, Mekare, Jaxon and Kiaen; her brother, Steve (Rijuan) McDaniel; as well as her nieces, Sherri and Angie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Mary Bartachek and Jim Matthews.
