Jon Robert Barta, 69, passed peacefully in his home in Milton, Fla., on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
Jon was born June 28, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended grade school at St. Patrick's and high school at Jefferson High School. Jon served our country during the Vietnam War. He joined the Army in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1972.
Jon will be remembered for his quiet strength, his soft-spoken wisdom, love for fishing, tennis and enjoying family events. He enjoyed driving an 18-wheeler and going across the country on long trips.
Those left to cherish his memory are seven siblings, Charles (Sheila) Barta, Margaret (Bill) Cones, Jean Johnson and Matt (Pam) Barta of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, JoAnn Rice of Erie, Colo., Katie Barta (Roger Waud) of Alexandria, Va., Paul Barta of Powhatan, Ark., along with many nieces, nephews and cousins; and good friends Mindy (Gardinier) Young and Steve Gardinier.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Ann Barta; sisters, Lynda Goodell and Eileen Sylvester; brothers-in-law, Bill Goodell, Cliff Rice and Willie Johnson; and good friend, Tom Gardinier.
Jon will be missed and his memories cherished
by all.
A service will be scheduled at a later date.
