Marjorie Lucille Ketelsen, 98, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, July 10, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 4210 Johnson Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial: Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa.
Marjorie was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Tipton, the daughter of Henry and Iva (Murray) Nagel. She graduated from Tipton High School, Class of 1941. On Oct. 13, 1942, Marjorie married Harlan E. Ketelsen. She worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, Arsenal Island, Ill. Marjorie was a longtime member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and volunteered to serve in many groups within the church.
Marjorie loved square dancing and sewing – she would sew outfits for them to wear dancing and also sewed clothing for family. Marjorie enjoyed visiting the elderly in their homes and nursing homes. She was a kind, generous person.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Susan Ferevich; grandchildren, Brian Ketelsen, Bill (Wonda) Ketelsen, Rich (Kris) Ketelsen, Brandy Ketelsen-Whitby and Ed Ketelsen (Tracey Carney); and nine great-grandchildren, Kenny, Matt, Matthew, Zoe, Dakota, Hailey, Karley, Alexis and Corbin.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Harlan Ketelsen; her parents, Henry and Iva Nagel; three sons, Thomas, Kenneth and Keith Ketelsen; brothers, Kenny Nagel and Alvin Nagel; and sisters, Florence Albaugh, Bernice Kofron and Eloise Dennis.
