Charles Albert Comp, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 7, 2022, in Mentone, Ind., following a sudden illness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday July 15, 2022 from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Union Station extension building on 16th Avenue. SW. Burial: Palo Cemetery at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Charles is survived by his life partner, Becky Gatewood of Cedar Rapids; daughters, Kelsey (Bill) McKusker of Ladora, Jill (Brian) Kuhn and Sarah Miller, both of Shellsburg, and Erin Gatewood of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Mason McKusker of Ladora; sisters, Sharon (Lyle) Charlier and Jean Schneider, both of Cedar Rapids, and Donna (Bob) Leonard of Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charles was born on May 27, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, son of John and Eva Abbe Comp, and attended Kennedy High School. Charles worked as a semi-driver for Liebe Trucking since 2008, and was a member of 319 Ride with Pride.
Charles enjoyed farming, and building and showing his custom motorcycles. He also liked going to car and motorcycle shows. Charles will be remembered for his constant laugh, contagious smile and being ornery. He was a wonderful, loving person and will be deeply missed.
