The Walk Through: Iowa RB Ivory Kelly-Martin out vs. Iowa State

Today was my turn with Andy Peterson and Justin Roberts on the WMT pregame show.
Iowa play-by-play voice Gary Dolphin does a segment. He said running back Ivory Kelly-Martin's ankle hasn't responded to treatment and he's extremely unlikely to see action Saturday against Iowa State.
Dolph said true freshman Henry Geil probably gets the look, but you know sophomore Toren Young is up.
I guess this answers the question. It's better to not have played in week 1.
But we'll see. The earthquake machine is warming up.
— The kick is up ... and Purdue's season is on a path to stink.
— The Cyclones have been out on the field for a while. They looked warmed up.
The Hawkeyes play host to Iowa State today at Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is 4 p.m. on Fox.
— Iowa special teams assistant Kevin Spencer got the stopwatch out watching Iowa State's field goal unit.
That's cagey. That's what salty, veteran NFL special teams dogs do.
— Iowa's skill guys getting some extra warmup in. Nate Stanley did some handoffs with Toren Young and Mekhi Sargent. I think Geil was in there. Kelly-Martin isn't out there.
— The QBs doing the extra throws were the walk-ons. It was mostly developmental guys, except TE Noah Fant was out there.
He probably wanted the brush up after a rough week 1.
This is a level of warmup that you don't usually see out of Iowa.
— Specialists are out on the field.
— The wind feels like it could be something. It's a little breezy. It's 14 mph out of the northeast.
— FG range looks like 45 into the north end zone. Iowa's backup kicker Caleb Shudak just booted a 46-yarder into the south stands. That's into the wind.
So far, the wind is behaving.
— Kinnick is sold out Saturday. It's the Hawkeyes' first sellout at Kinnick since 70,585 showed up for the 2016 Michigan game. Iowa is on track to sell out Northern Iowa next week and has sold out Wisconsin in two weeks. That would be Iowa's first string of three sellouts since 2012.
File those numbers wherever you want.
— FG range into the south end zone looked like about 40 yards.
— ISU will start sophomore Sean Foster at left tackle. Julian Good-Jones will move inside to center, his usual spot.
— Senior Jack Hockaday will start at MLB. Amani Jones will play, Kirk Ferentz said in pregame radio. KF said this deal will probably go back and forth all month.
Still evaluating. Can you win doing that? We'll find out together and be surprised one way or the other.
— BTW, it was Amani Jones doing the psych-up huddle in the end zone before stretching. Shows you his perch with this team.
Does he get a legit chance to win his job back? I don't know. I'm guessing yes.
— Officially, Iowa radio on Kelly-Martin: Sprained ankle, not playing. LB Kristian Welch was limited in practiced this week. Expected to give it a go.
So, not playing week 1 looks pretty good for ISU so far.
— And now in the team period: Redshirt freshman Djimon Colbert lined up in place of Welch, so he might be getting his first start.
Keep an eye on that. I think that's going to happen. I don't know Welch's deal. I want to say shoulder.
Kelly-Martin is out and now it looks like Welch is out.
— Iowa's first team OL: Alaric Jackson, Ross Reynolds, Keegan Render, Cole Banwart and Tristan Wirfs.
Second team: Mark Kallenberger, Levi Paulsen, Levi Duwa, Landan Paulsen and Dalton Ferguson.
— First DL was Parker Hesse and Anthony Nelson at ends; Matt Nelson and Cedrich Lattimore at tackles.
Second team: Chauncey Golston, Tyler Linderbaum, Brady Reiff and A.J. Epenesa.
OK, time to kick off this baby.
Have fun.
