Samantha Alex Maas was born April 16, 2009, in Iowa City, the daughter of Rich and Diane Slaymaker Maas. She was a straight “A” student at Iowa Valley High School, and was very active in sports, playing softball, volleyball and basketball. Sam liked performing in the junior high school play. She was very talented in her art drawings and her favorite color was purple. She enjoyed swimming, diamond painting, fishing, collecting legos, playing video games and watching TikTok. Her favorite meal at her Dad’s was biscuits and gravy, while she loved sushi, cheesecake, hot and spicy chicken ramen noodles and bacon at her Mom’s. She spent many hours binge watching her favorite shows: the Vampire Diaries, Grey’s Anatomy, Friends and Harry Potter. Sam loved spending time playing with her cats, Ashes and Charlie; she especially enjoyed hanging out and snap chatting with her friends.
