George William Kutchanek Jr., 99, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away June 26, 2022, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care.
George was born Dec. 18, 1922, to George S. and Ollie M. (Loffler) Kutchanek in Chelsea, Iowa. George attended school through ninth grade then worked the farm with his father.
On May 29, 1943, George married Maxine R. Kalina at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Together they rented farms in the Benton and Tama county area until purchasing their farm north of Chelsea, where they lived until semi-retiring and moved to Belle Plaine.
George was a hard worker, working for feed lots, Pioneer Seed, Tama Sale Barn, owned trucks to haul grain, raised livestock and drove school bus. George enjoyed horses and John Deere tractors. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chelsea.
He is survived by his children, Cherie Roberts of Irving, Connie (Jim) Anderson of Eldora and Colleen Balvin of Elberon; grandchildren, Jackie (John) Novotny, Carey (Curt) Winter, Jared (Logan) Anderson, Amy (Steve) Lamberti, Logan (Brianne) Anderson, Melynda (Tony) Gropper and Levi (Koreen) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Derek Novotny, Kolby, Kassidy and Kiersten Winter, Ty, Colton, Kayson and Fallyn Gropper, Maddy and William Lamberti, Harper, Andie and Bennett Anderson, Amelia, Mallory and Clayton Anderson and Blakely and Grayson Anderson; and sister, Gaynelle VanGampleare.
George was preceded by his parents; wife, Maxine; son-in-law, Joe Balvin; grandson, JJ Balvin; and sisters, Vi and Aleatha.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chelsea, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelsea.
