Barbara Marlene Wright, passed away Wednesday June 22, 2022, while in hospice at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids, with family by her side. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Barbara was born Oct. 12, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to David and Fanchon (Bedell) Fernandez. She had 11 siblings.
Most of her life, Barbara affectionately called “Barbie” by her children and grandchildren, worked as a homemaker and was the cornerstone of her family. Hosting family gatherings, playing BINGO, collecting Betty Boop memorabilia, baking her famous bread, making her legendary peanut butter fudge, watching the birds and feeding nuts to the squirrels were some of the things she most enjoyed.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Diana) Musgrove of Shellsburg, Cynthia Sallis, Sandra Musgrove, Dyane Musgrove of Cedar Rapids and Carolyn Wright-Marietta (Scott) of Northport, Maine; sisters, Mary, Lola, Joanne and Linda; as well as 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Margret, Louis, Robert, Paul, David and Laura; her children, John Musgrove and April Johnson; grandsons, Jack and Daniel; and ex-husbands, Robert Musgrove and Lee Wright.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the entire staff at Living Center West. The care and compassion that was given to our mother as well as the family went above and beyond our expectations. We cannot thank them enough for their kindness.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the medical lending closet at Grace Episcopal Church or your local animal rescue.
Please share your support and memories with Barbara’s family on her Tribute Wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
