Samuel E. Schneider, 78, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2022, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. Samuel Eugene Schneider was born Sept. 4, 1943, in Iowa City, the son of Leroy and Virginia (Bennett) Schneider. He was a graduate of West Liberty High School in the Class of 1961; following graduation Sam served in the United State Army Reserves. On March 9, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary F. Meyer in West Liberty. Sam had been employed with Procter and Gamble in Iowa City for many years, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of West Liberty Jaycee’s, Lions Club, bowled with the “outhouse gang,” a P&G group, and a member of the West Liberty Gun Club. He enjoyed woodworking, guns, cars, tractors and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of West Liberty; two sons, Tim (Kathy) Schneider of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Chuck (Jeni) Schneider of Riverside, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Jake (Katelyn), Zach (Shannon), Trevor (Jessie), Katie, Grace, Josh (Fiancée Amber Williams) and Jessie; and five great-grandchildren, Cash, Emmy, Denly, Lucy and Chase. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Lori.
