Time to take away Grassley’s keys

Often elderly men can’t recognize when it is time to give up driving and it is up to relatives to take the keys away from Grandpa. This November voters have the choice to take away Chuck Grassley’s keys to the Senate Cloakroom and give them to Admiral Mike Franken.
Chuck Grassley was first elected to public office in 1959; he still is on the public payroll after 63 years. Polls say most people want term limits enacted into law but while they are waiting, they might consider just using their vote.
Grassley is President Pro Tempore Emeritus of the U.S. Senate, the longest serving member of his party at 41 years in the Senate. The previous Republican Pro Tem was Orrin Hatch of Utah. He just died at age 88 after 42 years in the Senate which made him the longest serving Republican Senator in history.
Apparently, it is Grassley’s goal to beat Hatch’s record because he is seeking another 6-year term as U.S. Senator. If he can complete his term of office, he will be 95 years old but actuarial science odds are not in his favor.
In the words of Oliver Cromwell to the Rump Parliament in 1653, “You have sat too long for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you …”
