Senators not listening to the public on assault weapons

Nineteen Uvalde, Tex., children were assaulted by an 18-year-old who used a military-style assault weapon. Two children were "decapitated,“ their bodies "pulverized,“ according to the pediatrician called in to identify and certify their deaths. If this is not enough to move our senators to tears and to action then what is? These guns are not necessary for hunting — they pulverize tissue! Is campaign support from the NRA more important than protecting our children and grandchildren?
Our Senators are not representing the public — a vast majority of people would accept, at the very least, a higher age at which one could buy such weapons. Some years ago we had a nationwide ban on all assault weapons. It was allowed to lapse with the predictable result.
It behooves all of those who care about this country's children, to vote for those representatives who have the fortitude to vote as if they have a conscience.
