John Henry Bailey, 77, of Marion, left this world suddenly due to COVID-19 related heart attack on Jan. 16, 2022, in Mission, Texas. He was born to Derrald and Simona (Beisser) on Dec. 31, 1944, in Oakland, Calif.
John graduated from the Atlantic High in Iowa and attended U of I. John worked a machinist at Quaker Oats, P and H, and after 30 years at D.W. Products, he retired in 2009. He spent his winters in Texas with his wife, Kathy. John had been an avid bicyclist, doing RAGBRAI 20-plus years. He loved to camp, kayak, canoe, garage sales and read magazines, his IPAD or anything he could get his hands on.
Spending time with family and friends was a joy to him and Kathy. A very knowledgeable man on many subjects, many people went to him for answers. His sense of humor, kindness, soft heart and wonderful smiles are remembered by all.
