Christopher Michael Nott, 28, passed away on June 9, 2022, after a courageous 10-month battle with cancer. His loving family was by his side.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at The Kirkwood Room in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice or the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Christopher was born on Dec. 21, 1993, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Michael and Dorene (Ganseveld) Nott. Christopher grew up in North Liberty, Iowa.
Christopher was energetic, hard-working and had a great love of sports. He started playing soccer in a recreational program when he was 4 years old and that became his favorite sport to participate in all through school. He also participated in cross country, track and basketball. The highlight of his high school years was playing soccer at Regina High School and participating in three State Championship games. In 2011, Christopher scored to give Regina their third win in a row at the State Championship.
Following high school, he attended Kirkwood Community College where he earned his Associate’s Degree with a certificate in marketing. In 2014, he met Tara Carnahan and they made a great life together; first in North Liberty and later moving to Cedar Rapids.
Christopher was employed by USPS as a rural mail carrier. His coworkers and friends described him as someone who worked hard, was always willing to help others and was kind and thoughtful. It was during this time that he became very interested in golf and enjoyed playing the game with his friends whenever he could. Christopher will truly be missed by all that had the opportunity to know him.
He spent as much time as he could with his nephews, attending numerous games they participated in. He enjoyed being a homeowner, working outside in his yard and grilling.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving sisters, Jennifer Reed (Jon), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Rebecca Campbell (Mike), Alabama; his loving significant other, Tara Carnahan, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; nephews, Jon and Jacob Cross, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Colton and Emma Reed, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
