Dwain Oliver Jordt, 87, of Norway, Iowa, passed away June 7, 2022, at The Gardens, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dwain was born Oct. 2, 1934, to Elmer and Ruth (McGregor) Jordt in Van Horne, Iowa. He graduated from Blairstown, Iowa, Class of 1953. Following school, Dwain worked for Kimm’s Concrete in Blairstown and Collins Radio before joining the U.S. Army. Upon returning from his service Dwain married Gwendolyn Mae Reid on June 15, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they built a home in Atkins, until moving to the Jordt family farm where they raised their children. Gwen passed away in 1994. On July 28, 1995, Dwain married Susan Denham.

Dwain spent his career doing what he loved: farming and hauling grain. In his youth he liked square dancing and enjoyed going on cruise ships and traveling. Wherever Dwain went he found someone he knew, and welcomed hosting foreign visitors.

He was a member of Farm Bureau, St. Clair Lodge #164 and Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford.

Dwain is survived by his wife, Susan Denham of Iowa City; children, Karen Hanover of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Lynn Jordt of Blairstown and Kenneth (Tammi) Lee Jordt of Norway; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gwen; and brothers, Ed and Kenny.
